CM of West Bengal Mamata: Preserve the judiciary's impartiality from politics.

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal and the leader of the Trinamool Congress, emphasised the need for the judiciary to be impartial and free from political prejudice. D.Y. Chandrachud, Chief Justice, was also in attendance.
Banerjee declared, “Everyone in the judiciary is an asset to the country and the world,” while speaking at a symposium on modern judicial advances held in Kolkata. Please ensure that the judiciary is free from political bias, as it is not my aim to degrade anyone. The chief minister went on to say that it must be sacrosanct, pure, and deserving of reverence.

Banerjee’s remarks follow the resignation of former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay in order to run for the Lok Sabha. As a BJP candidate, he ran for office in the Tamluk constituency and won. He had taken a strong stance against the state government while in office.
