Honour killing: A viral video from Pakistan depicts a Baloch couple who were shot dead for their love marriage.

Four years after their marriage, a couple in Pakistan’s Balochistan reportedly became victims of an honour killing in a startling development. Global indignation has been sparked by the video that went viral on the internet showing Bano Bibi and her husband Ehsan Ullah being shot dead by a gang of men in the dry Quetta desert.

After the videos of the May honour killing went viral online, Pakistani authorities detained at least 13 people in relation to the incident. Eight individuals and thirteen others suspected of being involved in the crime were previously listed in the FIR.

In the footage, guys with pistols can be seen firing at the couple from a close distance. Before bullets were fired at them from behind, the woman was ordered to leave the cars. The pair was also seen dead on the desolate field by the phone cameras. The crime scene was surrounded by a number of pickup SUVs and cars, but there were no indications of any settlements, suggesting that the victims had either been called in or kidnapped and taken to a far-off place. At least two of the killers were observed using their phones to record the killings, with one of them scaling a pickup’s bed to do so.

Violence is a trigger warning.

Bano Bibi and Ehsan Ullah were taken before a local tribal leader named Sardar Sherbaz Khan, who found them guilty of having a “immoral relationship” and ordered their execution, according to a formal complaint submitted by the Balochistan Police. According to a report from Al Jazeera, Bano’s brother is among the persons directly involved in the incident who are currently at large.
